Swipe cards

Nowadays swipe cards are extremely popular and relatively cheap. They find the solution whenever there is the need to use a storage medium.
Data which is included on the card is further encoded on the strip using magnetic encoders.

Swipe cards

When it comes to swipe cards, there are two different types of magnetic strips : LoCo and HiCo. So what’s the difference between them?
Hotels usually use LoCo cards for door locks, with a lower coercive force.
Restaurants prefer HiCo strips - they are more resistant to demagnetisation.
In order to use swipe cards it is essential to use swipe card readers. Such stripes have three recording paths. Usually we only use one of them. However, if there is the need for additional security of access to information or specific rooms, then you can easily encode the appropriate sequences of characters, even for all three paths. You can use numerical sequences as well as sequences of letters with numbers. So it all depends on the importance of the protection and security of a specific element, record or building.
LoCo- has a low coercive force (lower resistance to demagnetisatio)
HiCo- has a high coercive force (higher resistance to demagnetisation).
When deciding on which one to choose, you need to find out in advance which one is being read by your reader.
Hotels usually use LoCo cards for door locks, with a lower coercive force.
Restaurants prefer HiCo strips – they are more resistant to demagnetisation. They keep data record even in adverse conditions, in a stronger magnetic field.
Such information can be found in the technical data of such a device, provided by the manufacturer. Magnetic strips have 3 recording paths. They can encode digital or digital-letter data.
